Recruiter, You Aint Nothin But a Hound Dog

Recruiter, You Aint Nothin But a Hound Dog Vying all the time, recruiters and hound dogs  have  a lot in common. You see, canines  possess killer searching skills.  Theyre  forever sniffing out other  animals, working out who they are, where theyve been and their overall suitability as  a mate. In many ways, recruiters are sniffers as well, sniffing  for a living. In a less physical sense theyre forever following their nose, sniffing  out candidates skills and suitability for a role. They are so unbelievably good at it,  its almost a sniff they were born to do it. Both hound dogs and recruiters are natural-born  hunters too, known for their determination and persistence (and occasional stubbornness).  Where recruiters hunt talent and new business opportunities, the dogs  track down  people, animals and other unidentified objects.  Both beings  share  an innate sense of inquisition and curiosity. Theyre also  extremely social and  great with people. See? Peas in a pod. While the similarity is uncanny,  there are still many different types of recruiters, so which breed of hound dog are you? The Beagle Beagles are extremely cute, but they can also be quite stubborn. They are known for blindly following a scent  and are hard to deter when they think theyre onto something.  They are also  quite loud-mouthed and are known for barking a lot.  If your phone voice is the same voice you use to cheer on your football team in the semis, you could be a Beagle. https://twitter.com/sxbaird/status/724892211872157698 The Basset Hound Basset Hounds have a really pleasant nature and are easy to be around. They are peaceful dogs, affectionate and friendly. Like beagles, when they are following a scent very little can stop them in their tracks. Now before you start telling everyone youre a big ol basset hound, note that these guys are known to be big slobberers and struggle with flatulence issues. Still sound like you? The Afghan Hound Afghan Hounds  are an ancient breed of hound dog.    They embody wisdom, are sensitive  and elegant. If youve been in the recruitment game a long time and are wise beyond your years, this could be you. Im so stunning its ridiculous ?? #afghan #afghanhound #dog #hound #sighthound #dogsoftwitter #dogshow #doggrooming pic.twitter.com/t7pnuJeYww Madam Jones (@madambumpy) April 19, 2016 The Bloodhound The name is a little bit misleading here. Bloodhounds are gentle beings, but tireless when following a scent. Their intense tracking abilities make them difficult to train. If you find yourself rolling your eyes at training courses, all the while wishing you were out working on the job, you may have just found your spirit animal in the Bloodhound. The Greyhound Go, go, go! Greyhounds are absolute racers, so dont even try to catch them. These dogs are good at  eyeing the prize and chasing it down, vying for the top spot ahead of the pack. They dont respond well to heavy discipline, but need a clear sense of direction to be communicated to them. See below a picture of a Greyhound on public transport. If you did a double-take thinking it was actually a picture of you, you know  which breed you are. Spotted on the tube a lovely #greyhound (aptly around Isle of Dogs) pic.twitter.com/46f42X6QQR Susan McKeon (@susanjmckeon) April 23, 2016 The Dachshund Forget keeping a low profile (mind the double entendre), these guys like to play a lot of games. Sometimes they are referred to as wiener or sausage dogs. Dachshunds are full of life, very clever and  also possess strong digging instincts, making them  excellent recruiters. If youre a bit of a prankster or joke-cracker, or just look great in a suit, youre probably a Dashchund. If youre unsure which  one  you are, we recommend you engage in some light reading about dog breeds. Top bottom images: Shutterstock

Guest Post 5 Websites for Finding Awesome Internship Opportunities

Guest Post 5 Websites for Finding Awesome Internship Opportunities Stock photography courtesy of Bigstock Internships can provide entry into dream jobs, adding experience and references to an inexperienced person’s résumé, but finding them can be challenging especially in a down economy. As with all job searches, the Internet is an invaluable resource for locating the best opportunities. Whether you’re a recent graduate, embarking on a new career, or a student required to take an internship for class credit, the web can lead you to an internship that will give you the experience you need. Here are five great websites for tracking down the best internship. Internships.comâ€"Geared toward college students, Internship.com is often featured on university website. The site has both paid and class credit-geared internships, some of which are virtual. You could ideally complete your work online, from the comfort of the sofa, and not only be paid for it, but have a credit for your résumé. InternMatchâ€"This relatively new site tries to be the matchmaker of internships, gathering personality and working style information on members in order to match students with an ideal working experience. This is better for employers, as well, as they can connect with exactly the workers they’re seeking. MonsterCollegeâ€"Featuring both paid and unpaid internships, Monster’s internship section is geared toward college and graduate students. Don’t discount the job section of Monster, either. Many entry-level positions may provide you the same experience you’d get as an intern. Global Experiencesâ€"If you’re looking to see the world while getting experience, Global Experiences offers internships in England, Ireland, Australia, and more. The site also includes American internships. Fashion and marketing are the emphasis of Global Experiences, so if you’re looking to learn I.T., this may not be the best site for you. InDeedâ€"This aggregate job site has a little bit of everything from around the web. A brief perusal of the internship section of the site showed a wealth of exciting opportunities, including fan relations for an NFL football team and internships at Sony Music. If an internship is listed somewhere on the web, it’s likely findable at InDeed. Job searching is easier than ever, with the Internet providing opportunities for companies to search far and wide for the talent they need. For students who have a particular company in mind, however, it never hurts to go directly to that company’s website, where internship opportunities may be posted in the employment section. Even if the company doesn’t have internships listed, don’t be shy about contacting human resources to see if an opportunity may be available. Many businesses can easily see the benefit of nurturing new talent at a fraction of the salary. 5 Ways to Improve Your Diet and Get Healthy

5 Ways to Improve Your Diet and Get Healthy Do this!  Dont do that!  Seems everywhere you look, theres advice on how to improve your diet.  Many are thinly veiled attempts to get you to buy their program or product.  My experience goes much more along the lines of Occams Razor:  The simplest answer is usually the correct one.  Here are my tips on stuff that Ive used myself, and continue to do so.  Because they work! Alpha Lipoic Acid This one may not apply to you, but    25-30  % of the population will at some time be affected by neuropathy.  And, the taller you are the more likely it will affect you. It can show up in a variety of ways even in young children.  And, its a common (70%) side effect in diabetics.  What is it? Neuropathy is a primarily a condition of the nerves, most commonly in the extremities.  The effects can be only an annoyance, such as numbness, or much more severe.  Its also more likely to show up if your parents had it. Since it runs in my own family and some family members have had it show up as children, I did my own research.   I found multiple studies in Europe that showed the benefits of  Alpha Lipoic Acid, an anti-oxidant,  in treating neuropathy.  I was having the numbness symptoms, and was getting concerned as the numbness seemed to be spreading.  I went on a regimen of ALP and within six months the numbness was all but gone. Omega 3 Omega 3 is a fatty acid.  It has a cousin, Omega 6.  As with so many things in life, its all about balance.  And modern eating habits have altered the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3.  Although similar, they do different things in the body.  Our normal ratio would be 1:1.  But in Western culture, its typically 15:1. Because its much more difficult to reduce the Omega 6 than it is to increase Omega 3, its important to use a supplement that boosts the Omega 3.  Why? According to www.lifeextension.com, Enhanced Cardio Protection With Fish And Krill Oil. It has long been known that higher levels of omega3 fatty acids like EPA and DHA are strongly linked to improved cardiovascular health; while lower levels of omega-3s in the blood are linked to increased rates of hypertension and risk of heart attack. The two best sources of Omega 3 are fish oil and Krill oil  .  If youre not familiar with Krill oil, click the link for more info.  While fish oil has been used much longer, Krill Oil has some great benefits.  Either one is going to support good health. Portion Control Most of our nourishment comes from food, without worry about exactly what were consuming.  But as with all things, too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Currently, 66% of the U.S. population is considered overweight.  With all the evidence about the ill effects of being overweight, one of the best things you can do is to maintain proper weight.  And one of the best ways Ive found is portion control. Super size?  Never.   And at home, instead of using a big plate, use a smaller plate that wont hold as much.  That way, you trick your mind into thinking you have a full plate, but its actually a smaller amount.  And, youll be less tempted to fill er up. Avoidance There seems to be an endless flow of yummy treats that end up in our faces.   My biggest temptations are potato chips, french fries, and home made cookies.  And no you dont get to justify them by saying the chips and fries are just potatoes, and the cookies have nuts and raisins in them.  Weve all become addicted to salt, grease, sugar, and fast food.  All of which are not going to help us maintain good health. Okay, I know some things are just really hard to resist.  So if you cant avoid them completely, remember to keep them in moderation. Paying Attention Like anything in life, if you dont pay attention to where youre headed, its pretty difficult to control the destination.  Watching your weight?  Get on the scale every day.  Trying to lower your blood pressure?  Monitor it regularly.  Working on a better complexion?  Well, youre going to have to look in the mirror! Improve Your Diet and Improve Your Life Take control of the vessel you call  your body and its trip through life, and youll enjoy the journey much more.  It isnt any more difficult to live a healthy lifestyle than it is to live a terrible one.  The benefit to living healthy is huge, and you get all the rewards.
